Decarbonise your ICEs and process heat sources with Ammonigy

Green Ammonia is the cost-efficient e-fuel of the future. Ammonigy develops and produces decentralised ammonia-crackers, rendering ammonia useful as fuel and permitting the carbon-neutral, continued operation of industrial ICEs. We make economical decarbonisation possible for energy-intensive sectors!

What does Ammonigy do?

Ammonigy develops and produces decentralised ammonia cracking systems. Decentralised ammonia cracking means the splitting of ammonia into hydrogen where and when its needed, so that combustion processes can continue emission-free.

TBD

The Ammonigy Concept - Advantages

Emission-free

The use of ammonia as fuel does not produce any carbon emissions.

Cost efficient

Ammonia is an economical hydrogen derivate. Ammonigy enables cost effective operation by using ammonia as fuel directly.

Robust

Ammonigy's crackers are built for demanding environments and easy maintenance.

How ammonigy helps you decarbonise

We support our partners throughout the entire transformation process. Our services can be structured into three main phases:

1

Feasibility study

  • Use-case definition
  • Evaluation of technical viability
  • First cost estimate
2

Physical test run & demonstration

  • Engine conversion and operation with ammonia
  • Cracker-Design (geometry & power)
  • Phyiscal integration according to design specification
3

Use in production

  • Delivery of NH3-Cracker and auxiliary components
  • Maintenance of cracking equipment

Why Ammonia?

  1. Carbon-free fuel

Ammonia can be produced and used without any carbon dioxide emissions.

  2. Easy transport and storage

Liquid ammonia can be stored and transported economically.

  3. Realisable

Ammonia is already being produced in large quantities - the infrastructure is already there!

Our solution

The core component is our patented NH3-cracker. Reversing the ammonia synthesis releases hydrogen immediately prior to combustion. This released hydrogen makes the ammonia-hydrogen mixture combustable.

“We produce the least amount hydrogen necessary, at the latest moment possible”.

Exhaust gas treatment is an important part of our solution. This ensures compliance with emission limits.

Main advantages of the Ammonigy-principle

  • Carbon-emission free continued operation of ICEs
  • NH3-crackers render the 'pilot fuel' hydrogen combustable, eliminating the need for a second tank like in competing solutions (e.g. Ammonia-Diesel).
  • Ability to substitute natural gas in the primary industry

Mobile heavy duty applications

Internal combustion remains the primary mode of propulsion in freight transport and other heavy duty applications. Alternative emission-free types of propulsion are neither technically nor economically viable at this scale. Ammonigy's local NH3-Cracker is built specifically for combustion processes, thereby fulfilling the market's requirements regarding cost efficiency and resilience.

Challenge process heat

Green hydrogen will play an elementary role in the generation of process heat in various industries. Potential customers without access to hydrogen pipelines will face tremendous logistical challenges. Decentralised NH3-Cracker, like Ammonigy's, will solve this by combining the ease of transport and storage of ammonia with the chemical properties of hydrogen.

Stationary energy generation

Combined heat and power plants will continue to play a vital role in the generation of energy. Gas-powered plants can also be transformed to operate emission-free with Ammonia-hydrogen fuel. The combination of modified turbines/engines and ammonia will be the most cost effective mode of operation.

About us

Our Mission is the replacement of fossil fuels in ICEs and industrial heaters by Ammonia-Hydrogen. Ammonigy NH3-cracker have been developed for economic and reliable use in combustion processes. Our patented NH3-crackers are self-heating, making them suitable for mobile and stationery use alike.

„Our Mission is to make energy-intensive applications emission-free.“

Background

The founding members of Ammonigy recognised the potential of ammonia as a substitute to fossil fuels early on. WHS Group has been researching potential applications of ammonia for years, many successful projects in cooperation with renouned organisations and patents substantiate this enormous potential. In 2020, Ammonigy GmbH was founded in cooperation with Sonic Group, to further WHS' developments and implement and commercialise them more efficiently.
